Funding Awards Announce!
August 1, 2006
Governor George E. Pataki today
announced more than $117 million in funding to support affordable housing
initiatives across New York State which will benefit working families,
seniors, the disabled and small retail business owners.
GVRPC, Inc., a private, not-for-profit
housing agency serving Western New York since 1983, will receive $400,000
in HOME funds, $854,421 in Housing Trust Funds (HTF), and $226,145 in Low
Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHC) as part of the Governor's funding
announcement.
HOME funds will provide another $400,000
for a continuation of GVRPC's first-time home buyer programs in Livingston
and Wyoming Counties. HTF and LIHC capital awards allow the
construction of a new 24-unit apartment complex for small families and
seniors in Livingston County.
The funding is part of $88 million in low
interest loans and grants from the New York State Housing Trust Fund
Corporation and $29 million in Federal and State Low Income Housing
Credits administered by the Division of Housing and Community Renewal
(DHCR).
These awards increase GVRPC's total of
housing investment and services in the area to over $56 million, with over
725 families served in housing programs and over 600 families housed in
quality, affordable rental units.
GVRPC, Inc. is an Equal
Opportunity Housing Provider.
